Preparations for the Public Communication of Science and Technology Network Science Communication Conference 2025 are underway. Representatives from the PCST Scientific Committee, including PCST President Professor Sook-Kyoung Cho and Programme Committee Chair Dr Heather Doran, visited Aberdeen and were joined by the local organising committee.

During the visit, the team visited several conference venues including the iconic Aberdeen Music Hall. With its deep connection to science communication in the UK, this historic venue promises to provide a captivating backdrop for the conference’s social activities.

The conference itself will be held at the dynamic and modern P&J Live. This state-of-the-art venue offers the perfect setting for engaging discussions and networking opportunities.

Amidst venue explorations, the team gathered for a stimulating seminar, delving into the conference themes of transitions, traditions, and tensions in science communication. With insights from practitioners and researchers spanning various disciplines, discussions centred around the evolving landscape of science communication and the challenges inherent in conveying complex scientific concepts across different cultures. The discussions from this seminar will be published as an article to help stimulate ideas for conference sessions.

PCST President Sook-kyoung said “Nowadays, science and technology have become a key issue both in global and local policies, public demand for science communication is rapidly increasing and its importance is widely recognised. This conference will discuss the various tensions and different traditions that exist in science communication along with the transitions that we need to undertake to improve our practice.
